I support the Tempe Union High School District Maintenance and Operation Budget override initiative. Two schools in Ahwatukee are part of the District, and this vote will provide the funding necessary to ensure our children continue receiving a quality education that prepares them for college, career, and life.

Tempe Union is a high performing district, with 25% of students enrolled in advanced placement courses, annually producing many National Merit Scholars and semi-finalists. We all benefit from great schools attracting and retaining businesses, who's employees look to send their children to high quality institutions.

Passage of the override is critical to the continued success of the District. A YES vote will provide the funding necessary to maintain class sizes and provide school-based student support services such as Gifted and English Language Learners. The additional 5% will provide $3.8 Million to compensate certified teaching staff.

This is a sound investment in the future of our children, and I ask you to vote 'yes'
on November 7th.

Mayor Greg Stanton

City of Phoenix

As the Mayor of Tempe, proud graduate of McClintock High, and TUHSD parent, I would like to add my support for the proposed Yes Support Our Schools (YSOS) Ballot initiative.

Tempe Union has a strong history as a high performing school district. The TUHSD consistently earn an "A" grade from the Arizona Department of Education. TUHSD has produced high performing students, a quarter of whom are enrolled in advanced placement courses. Many students go on to attend prestigious universities and programs including Barrett the Honors College, Stanford, and Duke.

Passage of the proposed budget override is critical to the continued high performance of Tempe Union. A "YES" vote will provide the funding necessary to continue providing small
classroom sizes and school ased student support services such as Gifted and EnglishLanguage Learners. Additio ±al funding directed towards competitive teacher salaries will ·
maximize our students' acad mic growth.

I strongly believe that a well-educated population translates to economic growth within our community. YSOS will give the TUHSD resources necessary to continue to provide the
excellence in Education our children deserve.

I consider this override to be a sound investment in the future of our community. I hope you wiJI join me in voting "YES".

Mayor Mark Mitchell

City of Tempe

Mitzi Epstein

As the Congressional Representative for CD9, the home for the Tempe Union High Schools, I would like to add my support for the proposed Maintenance and Operation Budget Override.
Tempe Union has a history of being a successful school district. Our district has produced high performing students, a quarter of whom are enrolled in advanced placement courses, and 10% of the students attending Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University are TUHSD graduates.

Passage of the proposed Maintenance and Operation Override is critical to the continued success of Tempe Union. A "YES" vote will continue to provide the funding necessary to maintain smaller class sizes in all grades as well as provide for school-based student support services such as Gifted programs and English Language Learning. The additional 5% budget override would provide the District an additional $3.8 Million which would enable the District to attract and retain highly qualified teachers. The additional funding would be used exclusively for certified teachers compensation.

This Maintenance and Operation Override is a sound investment in the future of our children, and in the future of our community. I urge you to vote YES .

Mayor Greg Stanton

As your state representative, I support our local schools. Our community has a long history of support for high quality education. It is the foundation for our economy, our quality of life, and our property values.  "Finding something affordable in a good school district with family-friendly features ... tops the list of home buyer priorities," said Javier Vivas, manager of economic research, Realtor.com. (July 2017)

Our public school classrooms have been underfunded by over $1,000 per student since 2008. When adjusted for cost-of-living, Arizona high school teacher pay ranks 49th in the nation.
In spite of this gross underfunding, TUHSD is well represented among the high-achieving students in Barrett's Honor College in ASU, and scholarship winners in other highly selective colleges. This point of pride in our community reflects the great work of our schools and students.

Our teachers do exemplary work, but the teacher shortage could leave our students unprepared for the jobs of tomorrow, affecting our economy badly. Your Yes vote will help TUHSD stay competitive to retain and attract the best teachers, and provide an education that supports better jobs for everybody.

Please vote YES for your Tempe Union High Schools!
